Metric = Nerdy?

TECHNOLOGY - The metric system is apparently too good for the US, Liberia and Burma... Or do Americans just think using a 10 x 10 x 10 system is too logical and therefore nerdy?

Or maybe Americans, the Burmese and Liberians are just stupid?

5 Ways to Cop out of a real post by making a stupid list

1. Take a look at what other major bloggers are doing, and copy it. I
mean, they're successful, so they can't be wrong, right?

2. Write something that takes up the maximum amount of space, with
the minimum amount of words. That way, readers won't hurt their eyes
looking at it, and it can look like you put some form of effort into
it.

3. Absolutely do NOT put as much thought into your blog post as you
would an actual article. This is absolutely imperative.

4. If you run out of items for your list, just start repeating
earlier points, but rephrased so they sound like new ones.

5. Don't worry if you've run out of points, you can always repeat
them.

Giving Nerds a bad name

I have been a comic book reader as long as I can remember. The first comic I remember was an Incredible Hulk comic with the Abomination in it that my grandfather bought for me on the way to the cottage.

For a long time comics were not cool to be into if you were older then 10. I was and waved my fanboy flag high and proud. I remember when the Spider-Man movie coming out was to be directed by Jim Cameron.

Flash forward, I'm now in my late 20's, reading and writing comics are now much more acceptable. Hell I have converted a gorgeous 30ish exotic dancer to reading comics.

But every once and a while something gives us a bit of a bad name.

Apparently slow news day on last Thursday caught up with the statue you see on your screen. Now apparently Sideshow Collectibles has created a line of statues with Adam Hughes (good artist, but excels at drawing hot women) to do a naughty girl line of Marvel comic statue thingys (they're calling them Comiquettes...whatever that means).

Now I don't particularly like the statue. I don't think it's a great version of Mary Jane and the pose itself is just kind of weird but I can understand others who would. This is not the kind of thing minors can afford (the price tag for this sold out limited edition statue thingy is 124.99 US) so that doesn't bother me. The fact she's doing laundry doesn't bother me; Mary Jane is Spidey's wife, believe it or not, even with the highest amount of women's lib, you live with someone for over a year let alone how many they've been together, you are probably going to do each other's laundry at least once. Hell, I've done a little laundry of women I've lived with who I wasn't dating.

What bothers me is MSNBC did a piece on it that you can see here and it is just plain bad.

Who the hell got the guest for this? Feedback? A dude who won a reality show to be a superhero? Was there no one at Marvel to answer a few stupid questions? Did anyone at MSNBC even think about talking to anyone at Marvel?

Some how I doubt it.

Proposal....blech.

Argh! Can't....stupid....damn it!

This isn't going to work, I swear to God. I have reached the end of my rope with this thing.

*beats the proposal a few more times*

No, I think it's dead Jim.

Maybe it would help if I actually knew something more about coding a webpage other than the standard little tags and such. I can't explain something if I have no idea how it fits together. Grrr! Well, let's just stick tab A into slot B and hope it fits, okay? I don't know what the hell I'm talking about.

No, seriously. I'm going to like...move to Alaska or something in a minute here.

Photo Gallery

I created a 'gallery blog' lastnight- it's basically all of my favourite pictures that have some sort of story behind them. I just think that looking at pictures is one thing...but it's way more interesting to understand the moment in time that the picture captures.

Michelle's considering doing one as well, and we've sort of come to a draw concerning pictures that we both own (especially pictures that have both of us in them)- we'll do our own individual interpretations of the pictures. It could be dangerous, but in any case it should be telling. I'll stay away from pictures that have stories that are uniquely hers.

I'm so friggin' TIRED. I had the world's worst case of insomnia lastnight. It's stupid, because I was pretty sleepy, too. Stress? Maybe. But usually it has to be pretty bad to keep me awake. Must be one of those lunar position things or something. My horoscope this morning said that Mercury was moving into Scorpio...whatever the hell that means. In any case, Phil couldn't sleep either, but that's really nothing new. *yawn* I'll just try to do my film readings. That should put me right out.

Just kidding!
