Steve Jobs Resigns!

(via Wall Street Journal)

In a letter released Wednesday night, Steve Jobs resigned from his position as CEO of Apple, but has opted (if the board sees fit) to stay on as Chairman of the Board, Director, and Apple employee. As per their succession plan, the most likely candidate to take his place is Tim Cook, who has acted as CEO during Jobs' past two leave of absences, in 2009 and early 2011. He did not cite his health as a reason for resigning, simply that the day had come that he 'could no longer meet any of his duties or expectations as Apple's CEO'. He stated in his letter: "I believe Apple’s brightest and most innovative days are ahead of it. And I look forward to watching and contributing to its success in a new role."
